Classroom Management
Classroom Management Plan
The 4th-5th grade team, along with the rest of Summersville Grade School, is implementing a positive approach to discipline in the classroom which focuses on positive behavior. PAWBUCK cards are attached inside the agenda books that were purchased at registration. The PAWBUCK cards will keep track of their positive behaviors. Students start out with 5 paws at the beginning of each day and fines will be assessed for behaviors that break school/ and or classroom rules. Students who have earned 85% or more of their PAWBUCKS will be eligible to participate in the 4th-8th grade reward activities at the end of each quarter.
In addition to that, 4/5 grades will be implementing monthly positive behavior incentives. Any 4/5 student that keeps 93% (A average) of their PAWBUCKS at the end of each month will participate in a monthly “fun club” which could consist of movies, arts/crafts, extra recess, treats, etc. The monthly “fun club” will be held on the last day of the month that school is in session.
Students in grades 4/5 also will have a weekly chance at earning “Floating A’s”. These are coupons that can be used to help improve grades. They can be earned weekly if a student doesn’t lose any PAWBUCKS all week! They may be used on completed/graded individual assignments to change a poor grade to an A. Floating A’s can’t be used on quizzes or tests. All students are responsible for keeping track of their own Floating A’s.

Agenda Books
The last 10 minutes of the day is set aside for agenda books. Each student will bring their completed book to me and I will initial it if they have all the correct assignments written down. I ask that you look at it every night so you are aware of the assignments your student was to complete and also to be aware of any upcoming test dates. It is optional for you to initial it. However, students will receive a ticket if the agenda book gets initialed at home every evening. Also, the classroom website has the weekly homework assignments listed on it.
